A hit in the first (HR) and a walk in the second. Reports say a lot of hard hit fly balls but the change looked good.
Anybody else have more info?

Not watching, but people were talking about the Zobrist AB.
I see Swish fell asleep at first, ruining a rally for little fist pump.

Swish didn't fall asleep. He tripped up.
Hughes wasn't very good, but Joba is making him look like Cy Young.

Cervelli trys to pick the runner off at first, Tex can't catch it, but Cano throws out the runner at 2nd.
Joba escapes but was pretty bad.

So far, Gaudin, Aceves, and Mitre are ahead of Joba and Phil in the fifth starter competition. I'm not surprised at all.

Did Mo say he'd have Joba as his 8th inning set up man?

Re: March 5th, 2010. Rays v. Yankees, the first Phil-Joba Duel
To put it lightly, yes. Joba was downright bad; Hughes just gave up some hard hit balls. He only gave up 1 hit, but it was a home run, and his control wasn't horrible. Joba gave up 3 hits, walked 3, gave up 5 runs (although 2 runs scored after he left.
Now, Kei Igawa has shown up both of them by pitching 1.2 perfect innings, including entering with the bases loaded and one out, and not allowing anybody to score. He's struck out two. So, even Kei Igawa is pitching better than Joba and Phil.

Igawa for the 5th starter.... Yanks really need an effective Asian pitcher, advertising dollars worth more than their contracts.

on the brightside, joba is still better than lester (33.75 era vs. 36.00)....

Re: March 5th, 2010. Rays v. Yankees, the first Phil-Joba Duel
i didn't think hughes did that bad, not great or anything but not terrible he did throw a nice change up to zobrist, that pitch looked promising
joba pitched really bad but judging by his body language it didn't really look like he cared or was worried about it, maybe that flu left him a little weak or something... i don't know he looked kind of out of it anyways it was just his first start of the year so i'm not worried he could still end up having a good spring, i'm more worried about how his last couple of starts are more than anything he does in his first couple of starts

First ST start. I really don't care. I won't be basing my 5th starter opinion on this game.
